We had one of the best trips we have ever had to the Graves Mountain Mine in Georgia. This was our first official field trip for the club for the 2010 season.

We met everyone Friday morning and began signing them in for the dig.

John D., "Can you turn up the heat!"

Today, much of the mine is off limits to collecting because of the work that the mine owners are doing. A big thank you to Junior for getting us access to the main pit and the opportunity to collect in the fresh material that has been uncovered.

The new name for the red acid lake.

Tripp spent the weekend collecting with us and gave Sandy a tour of the mine.

One member had the most interesting cart for carrying his tools to the mine.

Marina came up from Florida with her family to dig with us.

Junior, Melissa and Tripp spent the day with us Saturday and Junior helped everyone get their tools and rocks in and out of the mine.

Much of the digging was concentrated in the old kyanite area where a lot of rutile was found.
